If you haven’t heard, Consolevania is now on iTunes. If you have no idea what Consolevania is/was, then let me start by saying that Consolevania was one of the greatest (if not the greatest) games TV shows ever made.
The show’s presenters, Robert Florence and Ryan MacLeod, had a real passion for games and were very likeable. With their great knowledge, both Rab and Ryan could provide great, humorous, in depth reviews. More importantly, their reviews were honest. They weren’t afraid to tell you if a game was rubbish and explain the reasons why. Likewise, they would also be very eager to tell you about a game they loved.
The show had some fantastic comedy skits where the Ran and Ryan, along with their friends, poked fun at the games they were reviewing, the games industry, game developers and even each other. Another great aspect of the show, was the music. Some genuinely fantastic song choices throughout the show.
Although many of the reviews are for games released a few years ago, it’s still quite easy to go back and watch these episodes for the reviews and skits – something quite rare for a review show.
Consolevania was fantastic. If you missed this during it’s initial run, you now have an opportunity to watch it. The Scottish patter might be a bit difficult for some folks to understand, but give it a chance.
